SkyWave DMR-800 Offers Low-Cost Option for LRIT Compliance
Established by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), LRIT requirements came into effect on January 1st, 2008. Vessels affected include passenger ships, including high-speed crafts; cargo ships greater than 300 gross tonnage; and mobile offshore drilling units. LRIT compliance requires that vessels automatically transmit their identity and date and time-stamped position at regular intervals. For more information on LRIT requirements, visit www.imo.org.
