SkyWave Partners with Recognized ASPs to Provide Dedicated LRIT System
The new LRIT system is based on the IsatM2M network service, the next generation of D+.
Ottawa, Canada – October 27, 2008 – SkyWave Mobile Communications, a global provider of two-way Inmarsat satellite products and services, in co-operation with Recognized ASP organizations, has built a new dedicated system exclusively for Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT). The new LRIT system is based on the IsatM2M network service, the next generation of D+. The SkyWave DMR-800LRIT dedicated hardware unit will be exclusively registered on the new system, allowing only LRIT Recognized ASPs or LRIT Data Centre Managers appointed by their Flag to register and control equipment on the system. No 3rd parties will be permitted to use the system.
The new system meets all of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) LRIT specifications with respect to data content, data frequency and quality of service. Additionally, the DMR-800LRIT terminal provides a global standard that can be seamlessly remotely controlled by any LRIT Recognized ASP and facilitate flag transfers (ASP to ASP) without 3rd party involvement.
IsatM2M is an enhanced operating mode of SkyWave's trusted D+ service, developed to meet increasing market demand for dependable two-way communications with seamless global coverage. The new DMR-800 series terminals represent the latest development of SkyWave’s field-proven DMR product series, purpose-built for use with the SkyWave IsatM2M service.
