A little bit about the role:
SkyWave currently has a fulltime permanent opening for an Office Manager/Finance Generalist. While in this role, the successful incumbent will report to the Chief Financial Officer and apply in-depth knowledge of business and accounting principles and practices to perform various accounting and administrative activities. 

The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing assistance to all functional groups within the finance department including administration, finance, and facilities. This may include the preparation and analysis of management reports, financial statements or business cases, preparation of budgets, forecasts and variances, submission of regulatory reports, and advising functional management on financial issues. Also included will be the sorting, batching and processing of invoices, maintenance of new and existing vendor information, preparation of weekly cheque runs and ad hoc wire transfers, and processing expense claims in accordance with company policy. Filing of all accounts payable and accounts receivable information, reconciliation of vendor statements and maintenance of certain company forms will be part of regular activities in this role. The successful incumbent will also be responsible to prepare monthly inventory reports, prepare month end entries and other activities relating to inventory and cycle count. Additionally this role will include the co-ordination and booking of travel arrangements and assisting with phone coverage.

Researching issues, analyzing problems, determining approaches, compiling data and preparing reports are part of everyday functions in this role. Interfacing with and coordinating activities between various internal departments is also required.  Work is generally of a critical and time sensitive nature. Regularly uses tact and diplomacy and practical knowledge of industry/company policies, practices and procedures. Handles difficult situations with grace ensuring customers feel satisfied with the final outcome. This role will also be responsible to identify opportunities to improve processes and productivity to ensure that we meet our goal of superior customer support for our valued customers.
   
Preference will be given to candidates with 1-2 years experience in an office management and/or Finance role with a Bachelors Degree or Masters in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration. Candidates must have experience with accounting systems and practices including intimate hands-on knowledge of accounting from ground zero. A high degree of proficiency in AccPac (or similar) plus all MS Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is preferred.  The position requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to deal with constantly changing requirements and priorities. Superior organizational skills and outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of Executive/Senior staff and clients are a must. Candidates with experience in a high tech environment with foreign currency accounts and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations will be preferred. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is dependable, driven, personable, works well in a dynamic team environment and who likes to have fun too!

Candidates must be legally able to work in Brunei, be available to relocate to Ottawa, Ontario Canada for a minimum one-year assignment and have the ability to pass all visa and work permit requirements for Canada.  Given the international nature of this role, flexible work hours and the ability to travel are required.
