All products are designed for use with the trusted SkyWave D+ or SkyWave IsatM2M network services and are backed by SkyWave’s industry-leading customer service.
A little bit about the role:
SkyWave currently has a fulltime permanent opening for a Software Engineer. The successful incumbent will be responsible for designing and developing software for our satellite and terrestrial communications systems, including:
- Software design
- Code and unit test
- Integration and System test planning and execution
- Database design and deployment
We are looking for an engineer who is able to see things from a whole-system perspective, while dealing with the details. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to design and develop application and system level software in a small team environment using:
- Object-oriented dynamic languages, e.g. Ruby, Python
- System level programming in C/C++
- SQL database
- Unix operating system (Linux)
- Proprietary and IP-based communications protocols including SMTP and XML/HTTP services
Experience with high availability systems, database replication and IP network configuration is also desirable.
The successful incumbent will be a graduate of a Masters or Bachelors Degree and have experience in the above areas. They need to be a true team player with the ability to successfully execute to a plan. They will have strong customer services skills as this role will interact directly with SkyWave’s research and development teams. This position also requires the ability to deal with constantly changing requirements and priorities. Exceptional drive; passion; and solid verbal and written skills, including the ability to create thorough technical documentation are a must.
Candidates must be legally able to work in Brunei, be available to relocate to Ottawa, Ontario Canada for a minimum one-year assignment and have the ability to pass all visa and work permit requirements for Canada. Given the international nature of this role, flexible work hours and the ability to travel are required.
