A little bit about the role: SkyWave currently has a fulltime permanent opening for a Hardware Engineer. The successful candidate will be joining us at our Ottawa office location for one year of extensive training that will enable them to develop invaluable skills that are necessary for their future success with our company. At the end of the one year assignment in Ottawa, this position will relocate to our newest office location in Brunei. As a member of a cross-functional team, the Hardware Engineer will be responsible for design, evaluation, implementation, and integration of electronic systems, components and integrated circuits. They may be involved in simulation, tolerance/performance analysis, and low-level software development. The will be required to test and debug designs and prototypes, and create required design documentation; handle mechanical, reliability, integrity and compliance aspects relating to designed products. They will interpret requirements, and evaluate and select components and materials, ensuring required interoperability.
Candidates require 1-2 years experience in a hardware development or verification environment combined with a Degree in Electrical Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the areas listed above. Exceptional drive; passion; and solid verbal and written skills, including the ability to create thorough technical documentation are a must. The positions require meticulous attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and the ability to deal with constantly changing requirements and priorities.
Candidates must be legally able to work in Brunei, be available to relocate to Ottawa, Ontario Canada for a minimum one-year assignment and have the ability to pass all visa and work permit requirements for Canada. Given the international nature of this role, flexible work hours and the ability to travel are required.
